What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants provide the most reliable, long-lasting form of tooth replacement in modern dentistry. At Cazes Family Dental, all of our implant procedures are performed on-site, so there is no need to refer you to a 3rd party or surgical facility for phases of your treatment.
An implant is an artificial tooth root that we anchor into your jaw. It sits alongside of your natural teeth, functioning quite similar to your real smile. Not only are they capable of withstanding heavy stress and maintaining proper tooth spacing, 98% of implants typically last for the life of the patient.
Technologically Advanced Implant Procedures
Thanks to 3D cone beam CBCT technology, we can capture textured images that allow us to digitally plan and place your implants before the surgery even starts. Computer guided procedures typically result in a quicker surgery with minimal recovery time afterward. It also enables us to offer immediate placement (Teeth in a Day) depending on the health of the bone at the implant site. If necessary, bone grafting can also be completed to optimize the stability of your new teeth.
Types of Implant Restorations and Alternatives
Your dental implant procedure will be tailored to the number of teeth that need to be replaced, with consideration to the health of your supporting bone.
Implant Supported Dentures — In order to replace all of your teeth at one time, we may recommend a modified denture that snaps over or is permanently affixed to as few as four dental implants. This is sometimes referred to as a “Teeth in a Day” or “All-on-4” procedure. Depending on the type you choose, the implant supported prosthesis may be slimmer and more comfortable than a conventional removable denture.
Single or Multiple-Tooth Replacement — Individual implants can be restored with a customized porcelain or zirconia crown to mimic the appearance and function of a real tooth. Or, if several teeth in a row need to be replaced, a dental bridge can be supported by as little as two implants. This option provides a comfortable and aesthetically-pleasing alternative to wearing a removable partial denture.
Mini-Implants — These small implants can be placed in areas that may not be healthy enough for traditional implants. We typically use them to retrofit existing dentures for added security and a prosthesis that doesn’t move around throughout the day.
What About Sedation?
If you prefer to opt for the most relaxing experience, be sure to ask us about our sedation dentistry selections. Depending on your level of comfort or anxiety, we can provide anything between nitrous oxide to conscious oral sedation, or even have an anesthesiologist in our practice to perform in-house IV sedation.
Let us know what you want to experience in regard to your level of consciousness or memory of the procedure, and our Long Valley dentists will recommend an appropriate sedation option.
